  • Vikings Beat Jets 23-17

    Vikings Beat Jets 23-17

Down by six points with three minutes left, the Jets had the Vikings right where they wanted them. Aaron Rodgers had the ball and two timeouts, but Rodgers did not deliver.

Instead, Rodgers threw an interception to Vikings cornerback Stephon Gilmore with 44 seconds left in the game, ending the hope of a comeback at Tottenham Stadium. After the loss to Minnesota, New York fell to 2-3 this season.

The Jets dug themselves a huge 17-0 hole early, partly because of two interceptions from Rodgers in the first quarter, one that was returned for a touchdown.

Despite the sloppy start, the Jets fought their way back and had a chance to win in the final minutes.

It was an anticlimactic end for the Jets, who controlled the game for most of the second half.

Mets Eliminate Brewers With Thrilling Game 3 Victory

The ninth-inning comeback continued New York’s storybook season. The Mets were 22-33 in late May but played as well as anyone in baseball the rest of the regular season. They didn’t clinch a playoff berth until they scored all their runs in the final two innings of an 8-7 victory over Atlanta in the opening game of a doubleheader Monday, the day after the regular season was supposed to end.

With their latest thrilling comeback in the decisive Game 3 against Milwaukee, the Mets advanced in the playoffs for the first time since winning the 2015 National League pennant. They move on to a best-of-five Division Series beginning Saturday in Philadelphia against the NL East champion Phillies.

It will be the first postseason meeting between the longtime rivals.

  • Broncos 10, Jets 9

    Broncos 10, Jets 9

Denver’s defense sacked Aaron Rodgers five times and they never let the Jets get into the end zone over the course of the game at MetLife Stadium. The Jets still had a chance to win the game in the final minute, but Rodgers misfired on a third down pass and kicker Greg Zuerlein missed a 50-yard field goal to send the Broncos home as 10-9 winners.

The Jets had turned the ball over to the Broncos on their side of the field after a fourth down sack, but the Broncos couldn’t pick up a first down to ice the game and kicker Wil  Lutz missed a 50-yard kick of his own. It was a fitting end to a game that looked like no one was trying to win for most of the afternoon.

The Broncos had 46 yards at halftime and quarterback Bo Nix threw for minus-7 yards in the first half. The Jets only managed two field goals as heavy rain contributed to fumbles by both teams and a lot of sloppy play.

Nix threw his first career touchdown in the third quarter, though, and the Jets saw a promising drive stall after wide receiver Allen Lazard was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after a catch inside the Broncos’ 20-yard-line. It was one of 13 penalties by the Jets on a day of self-sabotage and strong Broncos defense.

  • Cowboys 20, Giants 15

    Cowboys 20, Giants 15

It is starting quarterback Dak Prescott’s 13th straight win over New York. The Dallas defense was the difference-maker. After back-to-back rough outings against the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens, the unit locked down the Giants run game, allowing 26 yards on the ground, and forced quarterback Daniel Jones to air it out if he wanted to win.

Giants rookie Malik Nabers was up to the task, with 12 receptions for 115 yards, but few others were. Jones completed 29 of 40 passes for 281 yards. Prescott, meanwhile, went 22-for-27 for 221 yards and two touchdowns, while CeeDee Lamb had 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Unfortunately, both teams were bit by the injury bug. Cowboys defensive standouts Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs and DeMarcus Lawrence all left the game at different points with injuries, while Nabers was ruled out in the fourth quarter with a concussion.

  • Charlotte Flair Expected Back in WWE Soon

Charlotte Flair Expected Back in WWE Soon

Things are looking up for Charlotte Flair after her severe injuries have kept her away from action.

The top star continues documenting her journey to returning to in-ring action on social media. She is focused on getting back to performing in front of fans as soon as possible.

Flair has been sidelined since she tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus in December on WWE SmackDown in a match with Asuka. The nasty moment happened as Flair did a spot in the corner, seemingly twisted when falling, and immediately grabbed her knee.

After the surgery, she has been rehabbing and documenting her progress. Flair recently took to her Instagram Story to share in-ring training footage from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL, which gave fans hope about her return.

The former WWE Women’s Champion’s current timetable for return is November.

  • Giants Hang On to Defeat Browns

Giants Hang On to Defeat Browns

The New York Giants looked like they were headed toward another humiliating loss on Sunday. But for Daniel Jones & Co, the lights went on.

Suddenly, the Giants looked like an entirely different team. Both the offense and defense were clicking and picking up the special teams unit, which continues to be a problem.

The second half was a bit of a slog for the Giants and they nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, but some timely defensive plays and self-inflicted Browns wounds sealed the game.

Malik Nabers made several incredible catches en route to eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He had 82 total yards from scrimmage. Nabers was the difference-maker for the Giants.

QB Daniel Jones played a high-level game against a tough Browns secondary. He finished with 24-of-34 for 236 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 20 yards on the ground and was harmed by three dropped passes.

    Yankees Clinch Playoff Spot

After missing out on last year’s playoffs following a miserable 82-80 season, the Yankees (89-63) marked Wednesday’s accomplishment with a raucous champagne and beer celebration in the visiting clubhouse, all while keeping an eye on their next goal of wrapping up the AL East.

With their ninth win in the last 12 games — secured by Anthony Rizzo’s RBI double in the top of the 10th inning and Ian Hamilton closing it out in the bottom of the frame — the Yankees trimmed their magic number to clinch the division to six games.

  • Aaron Rodgers, Jets Dominate Patriots

    Aaron Rodgers, Jets Dominate Patriots

New York thoroughly dominated its division rival seemingly hitting their stride in a 24-3 win over the Patriots.

Aaron Rodgers looked to be himself, tossing a pair of touchdowns in the win. Not only was his arm lively, but Rodgers showcased a bit of mobility that may quell some doubts over whether his legs still have some juice left.

Rodgers finished 27-of-35 passing for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

First-round pick Drake Maye also saw his first NFL action in mop-up duty. Both Maye and starter Jacoby Brissett fell victim to a makeshift Patriots offensive line, as Maye was sacked Twice and Brissett hit the turf five times in the contest.

  • Yankees Top Red Sox in 10th

Yankees Top Red Sox in 10th

The Red Sox kept opening the door for the Yankees, who refused to walk through it. Clearly they were just waiting for the drama to peak before they finally made their move.

After Clay Holmes recorded the final two outs of the top of the 10th, Juan Soto delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the inning to lift the Yankees to a 2-1 win over the Red Sox on Thursday night in The Bronx.

Leading off the inning against Red Sox reliever Josh Winckowski, Soto  shot a line drive up the middle, past the dive of shortstop Trevor Story, scoring pinch-runner Jon Berti from second to give the Yankees their second straight extra-inning, walk-off win.

With the Orioles idle, the Yankees (85-62) extended their lead atop the AL East to two games with 15 games remaining.

“With the Orioles behind us, we’re trying to get as much distance as possible and win as many games as possible,” said Nestor Cortes, who delivered five innings of one-run ball in his return to the rotation.
