  • Potential NFL Comeback for Tom Brady?

Potential NFL Comeback for Tom Brady?

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady teased a potential NFL comeback during an appearance on the ‘Deep Cut’ podcast.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said when asked by the host if he’d answer the call from an NFL team needing a quarterback due to injury.

“I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like Michael Jordan coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Mentioned was a hypothetical scenario where the San Francisco 49ers or the New England Patriots needed to sign a quarterback late in the season due to injury. They also mentioned the Las Vegas Raiders, with whom he has a deal to become a minority owner pending league approval.

The Yankees have made a habit of playing close games early on this season, including the first half of Saturday’s doubleheader when their bullpen had to walk a tightrope for a one-run win over the Guardians.

But they turned on cruise control in the nightcap.

After Oswaldo Cabrera’s two-run homer lifted them to a 3-2 win in Game 1, the Yankees scored early and often in Game 2 to support an impressive spot start from right-hander Cody Poteet for an 8-2 win, sweeping the doubleheader at Progressive Field.

“Not an easy thing to do,” manager Aaron Boone said. “Especially when you spend the whole day here and the split doubleheader, to walk out of here with two wins is definitely nice, with an opportunity to have a great weekend Sunday.”

With the sweep of the Guardians (9-5), the Yankees improved to 12-3, matching the best start in franchise history through 15 games.

Juan Soto delivered a three-run homer to help break the nightcap open in the fourth inning and Cabrera added an RBI double in the fifth as he takes over everyday third-base duties with Jon Berti landing on the IL.

WWE Will Celebrate 40th Anniversary of Hulkamania

Hulk Hogan fans will have the chance to buy some special merchandise of their favorite wrestler as the WWE is planning to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hulkamania.

Hogan is one of the biggest names in the history of the wrestling business, helping WWE take flight as the leading wrestling promotion in the world for the last several decades under Vince McMahon.

Hogan first held the WWE Title in 1984 and last won it in 2002. In addition to all of his accolades in WWE, he also helped spark the Monday Night Wars, the hottest period in the history of the business between WCW and WWE when he formed the NWO with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in the late 90s.

Hogan began to slow down his in-ring schedule in 2003, when he would work sparingly and later had a run in TNA Wrestling. Look for Hogan to make new TV appearances as the company celebrates the anniversary.

  • Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden Will Have Their Numbers Retired by the Mets

Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden Will Have Their Numbers Retired by the Mets

The team will retire both Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden’s numbers during separate pregame ceremonies during the 2024 season.

There are five other players whose numbers the Mets have retired: Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza, Jerry Koosman, Keith Hernandez and Willie Mays.

“I’m thrilled that two iconic members of the 1986 championship club will have their numbers retired in 2024,” Mets owner Steve Cohen said in a statement.

“Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden each had an enormous impact on our franchise and it’s my honor to continue our commitment to celebrating our wonderful history.”

Strawberry debuted in 1983 and took home NL Rookie of the Year honors.

He spent eight seasons with the team, earning seven All-Star selections and breaking the team record for all-time home runs with 252.

Gooden debuted in 1984 and dazzled over 11 years in Queens, with the highlight coming in 1985 when he won the NL Cy Young Award after winning the pitching triple crown, leading the league in wins (24), ERA (1.53) and strikeouts (268).

Gooden won 157 games in a Mets uniform and posted a 3.10 ERA.

  • New York Yankees Off To A Great Start

New York Yankees Off To A Great Start

The Yankees are now off to a 10-2 start, matching their best in franchise history through 12 decisions after also doing it in 1922, 1949 and 2003 — three seasons that each ended in a trip to the World Series.

He was not exactly facing Murderers’ Row, but the opponent has often not mattered for Carlos Rodon as a Yankee.

On Tuesday, it was the Marlins in front of him, and Rodon mowed them down for one of his best starts in pinstripes.

Rodon took a shutout into the seventh inning before running into some trouble (only part of which was his own doing), but it was enough to send the Yankees to a 3-2 win over the Marlins in The Bronx.

“A step in the right direction today,” Rodon said after giving up a pair of unearned runs over six-plus innings with six strikeouts. “Just keep going. The confidence is growing, for sure.”

Building off of Nestor Cortes’ eight shutout innings against the Marlins (1-11) on Monday night, Rodon completed six scoreless innings for the first time as a Yankee (in his 17th start with the team).

    UConn Topples Purdue, Wins Championship

Tristen Newton scored 20 points for the Huskies, who won their 12th straight March Madness game — not a single one of them decided by fewer than 13 points.

UConn was efficient on offense but won this with defense. The Huskies (37-3) limited the country’s second-best 3-point shooting team to a mere seven shots behind the arc and only a single make, while happily allowing 7-foot-4 AP Player of the Year Zach Edey to go for 37 points on 25 shot attempts.

UConn won its sixth overall title and joined the 2006-07 Florida Gators and the 1991-92 Duke Blue Devils as just the third team to repeat since John Wooden’s UCLA dynasty of the 1960s and ’70s.

  • WrestleMania 40 Was A Big Hit

WrestleMania 40 Was A Big Hit

The City of Brotherly Love played host to one of the most electrifying weekends in WWE history, with each event contributing to an unforgettable spectacle.

What started as a one-night-only wrestling card in New York’s Madison Square Garden has now turned into a multi-day-mania that takes bids from major markets to bring this annual traveling show to their cities.

The weekend was headlined by the return of Hollywood’s highest-paid actor, The Rock, to his wrestling roots. Teaming up with his cousin, the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns, they faced the formidable duo of the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes and Seth Freakin’ Rollins.

This match was more than a wrestling bout; it was a fusion of entertainment, family legacy, and athletic prowess, highlighting the sheer magnetism of WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia was not simply a series of wrestling events; it has become a cultural phenomenon. The weekend blended high-octane action, celebrity dazzle, and even musical flair to deliver a great entertaining weekend.  One for the record books, for sure.

  • When is Conor McGregor’s Next Fight?

When is Conor McGregor’s Next Fight?

After three years away from the sport and months of speculation, McGregor is expected to return to action this year. He took to his social media accounts and claimed he would return to headline a card against Michael Chandler — the man he has been booked to face for the last year — in July and at middleweight.

However, since posting that message that return date seems less likely. Now, it is expected to (hopefully) happen in the fall after UFC boss Dana White said he was targeting a fight date later this year.

Conor McGregor versus Michael Chandler is a bout fight fans around the world had hoped to see for some time. Despite the fight being pushed back for a year as McGregor avoided getting into the USADA testing pool, it is a matchup well worth the wait.

Each man has become hugely popular off their fight-finishing abilities. However, both get it done in very different ways. While they are both gifted strikers, McGregor is an elite-level counter-puncher with serious power and strong accuracy. On the other hand, Chandler is explosive and powerful but is also very durable and can take a lot of damage so he can deal out some of his own.
