New York Mets’ Nolan McLean Impresses Again

Nolan McLean was making his third career start for the New York Mets on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies. In the series’ first two games, the Mets’ starting pitchers did not get past the sixth inning.

In just his third start, McLean absolutely dominated in a 6-0 win for New York over Philadelphia. In the game, he pitched eight innings and gave up four hits. McLean walked no batters and struck out six. He also didn’t approach 100 pitches on the night, which was even more impressive considering the fact that the starting pitching has struggled for most of the season.
Nolan McLean could be the New York Mets’ potential ace moving forward

Mets fans will not dispute that David Peterson has been the best starting pitcher on the team before McLean. Since McLean arrived, the rotation has been different and better.
During the Phillies matchup, McLean had the Phillies hitters looking confused. He has faced quality lineups in all three games he has appeared in. This could go a long way for the Mets.

Aaron Rodgers Throws 4 Touchdowns Against Jets

Aaron Rodgers had no problem admitting he thoroughly enjoyed sticking it to the New York Jets and their head coach, Aaron Glenn, in Week 1.

No one expected the Jets’ Week 1 clash with the Steelers to be a shootout. But that’s exactly what it was as Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields played very well versus their former teams on Sunday. However, the future Hall-of-Famer had a bit more to prove against New York.

In the offseason, after being hired as the team’s new head coach, one of Aaron Glenn’s first acts as the leader was to let the four-time NFL MVP know his services were no longer required. Being sent packing put Rodgers in free agency for the first time in his illustrious career, where he eventually signed with Pittsburgh.

In a perfect setup for great sports storytelling, the Jets and Steelers faced off in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. Give the legend a chance to get back at his former team and the man who fired him. And he did that by leading the Steelers to a late come-from-behind, 34-32 victory.

Giants Fall to Commanders 21-6

Russell Wilson was handed the Giants’ starting quarterback job this summer, but he might not keep it long into the fall.

Wilson and the Giants’ offense struggled today in a season-opening 21-6 loss to the Commanders.

Giants first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart is currently Wilson’s backup, but Dart looked good enough in the preseason that many fans will want him to start, especially after Wilson could generate only two field goals today.

Wilson averaged just 4.5 yards per pass and a 45.9 percent completion rate, completing 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards. He was the Giants’ leading rusher with 44 yards on eight carries. The Giants need more passing and less rushing from Wilson.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels went 19-for-30 for 233 yards with a touchdown, and running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt had a strong debut with 10 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. Deebo Samuel was the Commanders’ leading receiver with seven catches for 77 yards.

Aaron Boone Ejected for MLB-Leading 5th Time

Perhaps New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was trying to fire up his team that had lost six of its past eight games. Maybe he was showing frustration over alternating pitching and hitting struggles as the Yankees slide further down the AL East standings.
Whatever the reason, Boone gave himself an early exit from Sunday’s 7-1 defeat to the Houston Astros by getting ejected in the third inning. It was his fifth ejection of the season, leading all MLB managers.

Boone began arguing with home plate umpire Derek Thomas after he called a low sinker to Ryan McMahon a strike. Judging from strike-zone graphics, the pitch was borderline but was out of the zone.
Apparently, that was one low strike too many for Boone’s liking and he shouted at Thomas from the dugout. Thomas called timeout and warned Boone, saying, “that’s enough” before tossing him from the game.
