Giants Rally to Beat Cardinals 31-28

The New York Giants beat the Arizona Cardinals 31-28.
They entered the Week 2 game against the Cardinals and the first two quarters were an extension of the Week 1 beatdown at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys with Arizona scoring on all but one drive and taking a 20-0 lead into halftime.
The futility was highlighted by a Daniel Jones interception that went right off the hands of running back Saquon Barkley for the second consecutive week.
The Giants did come out in the third quarter and show some fire on the shoulders of Jones, but each time they punched, the Cardinals punched right back.

Then came the fourth quarter and that’s when DJ completely took over and the game flipped on its head. Everything that had gone wrong was washed away and the Giants suddenly started firing.
The defense picked up stops when they needed it and the Giants offense, which couldn’t buy a point for six quarters to start the season, scored on five consecutive drives.
Kicker Graham Gano connected on the game-winning field goal with just seconds left.

Dallas Cowboys Roll Over New York Jets 30-10

In the New York Jets’ second game of the 2023 NFL season, in a sunny and hot Arlington Texas, the Jets were dominated by the Dallas Cowboys, 30 – 10.
The first half action was dominated by the Cowboys, who moved the ball at will against the vaunted Jets defense. Only a long catch-and-run touchdown pass from Zach Wilson to Garrett Wilson saved the Jets from being down 15 points at halftime.
With the score Cowboys 18, Jets 10, the Jets took over on offense at their own 25 to start the second half. They promptly went three and out, as the Jets offense continued to look overmatched against the Cowboys defense. The ensuing Jets punt gave the Cowboys a short field as they started their first drive of the second half at their own 42 yard line. The Cowboys took advantage.
The Jets could do nothing and after another Jets punt the Cowboys methodically moved downfield before settling for a short field goal and a three score lead at 27 – 10 early in the fourth quarter. At this point the game was all but over.

The Cowboys intercepted Zach Wilson on the next Jets drive, giving them the ball deep in Jets territory yet again. Another Cowboys field goal made the score 30 -10 in favor of the Cowboys midway through the fourth quarter and the rest was garbage time.
With the loss the Jets go to 1-1 on the season. Now the Jets must put this game behind them and move on to face their arch nemesis, the New England Patriots, at home next week.

Torn Achilles Ends Jets QB Aaron Rodgers’ Season

Aaron Rodgers’ aspirations for resurrecting the New York Jets lasted just four snaps.
Rodgers’ and the Jets’ cruelest fears were realized on Tuesday as an MRI revealed he suffered a torn left Achilles in Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills and will miss the remainder of the 2023 season.
It’s a crushing blow at the onset of what was hoped to be a renaissance season for the Jets and, furthermore, bears questioning what’s next for Rodgers, who turns 40 on Dec. 2.
Going forward, 2021 NFL Draft No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson will be the Jets’ starting quarterback, which head coach Robert Saleh announced Monday night after he said the team feared Rodgers had ruptured his Achilles.
The loss of Rodgers hung over the Jets’ dramatic overtime win on Monday, as the long-beleaguered franchise was riding an offseason of optimism into a 2023 campaign that crashed before it got out of park.

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Suffered Torn Achilles vs. Bills, Will Miss Remainder of 2023 NFL Season

The Jets got the news they were expecting but dreading.
An MRI exam confirmed quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a torn left Achilles tendon that will require season-ending surgery, a source confirmed.
The Jets’ dream season has turned into a nightmare.
Rodgers was injured on his fourth play against the Bills on Monday night when Buffalo defensive end Leonard Floyd sacked him in the eventual 22-16 Jets win.
Slow motion replays showed a pop in Rodgers calf as the Achilles ruptured. Rodgers initially got up and limped a few steps. He then seemed to realize what happened and sat down on the field.
Jets coach Robert Saleh said after the game the team feared it was Rodgers’ Achilles and the tests Tuesday confirmed that.
It is a stunning end to Rodgers’ season.

Jets Win OT Thriller vs. Bills; Aaron Rodgers Hurt

The New York Jets, even as their prized, four-time MVP offseason acquisition in Aaron Rodgers was knocked out of the game on the team’s first offensive series, unseated the Buffalo Bills on Monday night in a come-from-behind victory, 22-16.

But they needed overtime and a 65-yard punt return touchdown from Xavier Gipson to do it.
Behind safety Jordan Whitehead’s three interceptions off Bills quarterback Josh Allen, New York’s defense anchored the team and allowed backup Zach Wilson and the offense to hang around and make enough plays to set up a game-tying field goal late in the fourth quarter.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen, however, led a nine-play, 43-yard drive that ended with Buffalo placekicker Tyler Bass doinking through a 50-yard kick to tie the game, sending it into overtime.
The Bills were first to receive the ball but went three-and-out and punted the ball to Gipson, who broke a tackle and then weaved past the entire Bills unit for the game-winning score.

NY Mets Relief Pitcher Edwin Diaz Expected to Return

New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz is not giving up on potentially playing despite suffering what appeared to be a season-ending knee injury in the World Baseball Classic.
Diaz spoke to the media and raised the possibility of pitching again, saying it was his goal if some of his upcoming tests came back clean.
“I’m feeling great, we are working hard to see if I can come back. The doctors say I’m doing great,” Diaz said. “They want me to get my knee better first, then they will see how I respond in my strength, all these things I have to do. If the tests come back good, I might throw this year.”
Diaz is probably a long shot, but one he is unwilling to rule out at this point. He sounded optimistic after the injury, and the chances may be enhanced since his arm was not impacted.
Diaz was dominant in the closer role for the Mets in 2022, posting a 1.31 ERA with 32 saves.

Cowboys Humiliate the Giants 40-0 in Season Opener

The first Sunday of the NFL season concluded at MetLife Stadium and it was a home opener that the New York Giants would soon hope to forget.
The Dallas Cowboys came into East Rutherford and dominated out of the gate en route to a 40-0 win. It was the Giants’ worst shutout loss at home in franchise history and the Cowboys’ largest shutout win in their franchise history.

This game was over with pretty early on. The Giants put together a solid opening drive that saw the ball travel down to the Dallas 8-yard line but were unable to punch it in for a touchdown. To make matters worse, the field goal attempt was blocked by the Cowboys, and Noah Igbinoghene scooped up the loose ball and went 58 yards to the house. That lit the wick for Dallas as it went on a 26-0 run to leave New York in the dust by halftime.

This win now gives Dak Prescott 11 straight victories against the Giants, which ties Roger Staubach for the most consecutive wins against the franchise in its history.
